It has been an adjustment for me to always wear a white shirt and tie, and for Sister Anderson to wear a dress or skirt and blouse, (with our badges of course), everywhere we go. My companion, Sister Anderson, is still insistent we have our Friday evening date, so I wore a white shirt and tie to a Rodeo and Fair. I suspect the Lord has a purpose in all of this, people do notice and often talk religion with us because they recognize we represent our Church. Hopefully they will also come to recognize we represent our Savior Jesus Christ.
At the nursing home where we volunteer, the maintenance man mentioned something about God as I was walking out, because he noticed the badge. Even at the fitness center, a lady saw our badges and started talking about a belief in God. At the Fair we met a minister from a neighboring town and had a nice conversation with him, and again, it was because he noticed the badges.
Then last week, we attended zone training meeting, and after the meeting Sister Anderson and I went to lunch with the Elders and Sisters in our Zone. Sister Anderson and I are the only Senior Missionaries in the Zone. We are eating with the young elders and sisters not thinking too much about what those around us might be thinking. So a lady is leaving the restaurant and as she does, she puts her hand on Sister Anderson’s shoulder and bends down and says, “God Bless You,” as she walked out. The lady left without Linda being able to talk to her, so we do not know what she was thinking, but from her brief comment I assume it was positive. Linda shared that, and I thought we need to be sure we are always on our best behavior because those around us are watching. But then we should all be on our best behavior all the time because God is always watching, and we do so want to please him.
