Another Visit With Our Matriarch Friend

I have talked in the past about a less active sister we visit, usually once a week. Her late husband was Baptist. I believe they made pretty good money when he was alive and a number of her children and grandchildren rely on her for support because of illness, challenges and other things that have happened in their lives. She has a large family and it has been very difficult getting all the different family members figured out in terms of who belongs to whom. Every time we go over there, she tells us a new story, Last time we were there she talked about how she had to threaten the abusive husband of one of her daughters with a gun. She had son that committed suicide, a grandson that was sold by his mother and a granddaughter that was raped and dropped off in the Arizona dessert and left for dead. A daughter contracted tuberculosis which hardly anyone gets in this day and age. But apparently there is no cure for it.  It is hard to believe that one family could experience so many tragic events. The writers of a soap opera could study this family and likely have story lines for several years.

This lady has become a good friend and we really enjoy visiting with her. She has come out to Church a number of times since we have been out here. She really has experienced a lot difficulties in life. She lived in Arizona for most of her life, and this past week left for a 2-week vacation with her great granddaughter to stay in a cabin they have in the mountains in the general vicinity of Snowflake, Arizona. She has one daughter and her family who are active in the Church and living in Arizona. The rest of the family, are non-members. We have been trying to help a grandson, who lives with her, find a job. The last time we were over visiting, he volunteered that he was thinking of coming to Church. He is still in town, even though the grandmother is out in Arizona. So hopefully he will come.
