Evangelical Friend Helps Prepare A Small Garden Spot For Several Tomato Plants
Our Evangelical friend has one of the lots here at the lake where he
plants a garden. I mentioned to him that we will miss not having a garden this
summer. We eat lots of fresh produce from the garden in Boise in the summer. He
offered to help prepare a little area where we could plant a couple of tomato
plants, a couple squash and a couple of cucumber plants. Sister Anderson
typically makes a green salad for the Elders each week. Each member of our
family would know exactly what I am talking about, since the green salad was
fairly standard fair for many meals as our children were growing up. Even
though he chose to discontinue our Thursday meetings, I thought that would be
another opportunity to visit with him, plus it would benefit us in providing a
little produce. I contacted the owners of the empty lot behind us, and
mentioned that I wanted to put in a couple of tomato plants and would share
with them should they come down. They were fine with that. Our Evangelical
Friend came over on Monday morning and we prepared a little area to plant
several plants. He did way more than I expected, he brought over some composted
manure and other organic ingredients to mix in with the soil. I thought it to
be a very kind and generous act on his part. As missionaries we are always
looking for opportunities to serve others, but in this case a good friend
provided service to us.
