No Mountains here, but this is still country

Being from the west I tend to think that if you want to see wildlife you go to the mountains. The area where we live has rolling hills, but if you drive just 30 miles west you notice the flat landscape that much of Kansas is known for. We had an experience several weeks ago that reconfirmed to us this is country several weeks ago. Some members of the branch invited Sister Anderson and I along with the young Elders to dinner. They served us a delicious venison roast for dinner. I ask this member where he shot the deer and he said just out in his back yard.

I was thinking maybe Shaylor (our son) needs to come pay us a visit out here during deer season. We have seen deer a number of times while walking the golf course and when driving around the lake.

In fact there is a spot on the back side of the lake where we have seen four or five head of deer on several occasions. A joke around here is that many of these deer are “corn fed” since it’s a major crop in this area along with soybeans.
