Our Daughter, Son-in-Law And New Grandchild Visit Us For Thanksgiving

We felt very blessed to have our daughter and son-in-law and our new granddaughter who we had never met in person (although we have seen lots of pictures), come and visit us for Thanksgiving.  It was really nice to have family here for Thanksgiving this year. Last year we were invited out to the home of some members in the branch. It was an enjoyable experience but I think it was the first time in over 30 years that we didn’t spend Thanksgiving with our family, so I kind of missed that.

It rained all day here on Thanksgiving Day and most of the weekend. It made it a little more difficult to do outside activities during the visit. However we were able to take them to the local thrift store where everything normally costs .50 cents. It turns out the thrift store was having it’s own Black Friday both before and after Thanksgiving, and almost everything was on sale for .10 cents. They sold toddler toys for 1 dollar a bag. Ashley and Othello were able to find a number of toys for Sabrie, they washed them up, put batteries in them, and they all seemed to work and looked almost like new. Many of them were the kind of toys that have lights go on and make sounds when you push buttons. It was fun watching our granddaughter experiment with the new toys. I didn’t try to estimate what the cost of those toys would have been new. But I suspect they would have been over $100 dollars and the cost to Ashley and Othello was a dollar and thirty cents.

That tells you a little bit about Mound City when the number one tourist attraction we take our out of town visitors to is the local thrift store. :)
