We had another
meeting with our Evangelical Friend, he is not progressing. I believe the
spirit has testified to him of the truthfulness of the gospel, but he either is
not recognizing it or is in denial. It reminds me of a story one of our young
elders told. The missionaries were teaching an investigator and as they would
bear testimony and they could feel the spirit, this investigator would light up
a cigarette. After a while the missionaries asked him why he always lit up the
cigarettes when they were talking. His answer was that when they spoke he would
get this funny feeling, but when he lit up the cigarette it would make the
feeling go away.
Some people have difficulty
recognizing the spirit and it is easy to offend the spirit.
