We Met Two Ministers This Past Week

I am always amazed with how often when we are out in the public, people come up and talk to us.  Last week after Zone Conference, Sister Anderson and I were eating at a Wendy’s restaurant up in the City and a gentleman come up to us and asks us if we are out serving the Lord. We explained to him that we are out here serving a mission. He then explains that he is a minister.  He said that we looked like we might be involved with a Church, I wasn’t sure if that was because he saw our badges or what made him think that. He mentioned that he had met several people from our Church. He talked about having his own business for years and then going into this healing ministry. We determined that one of our chapels is close to where he lives.

We had a nice visit with him, but could have done a better job encouraging him to pay a visit to our chapel on Northfleet road. That is the chapel where they hold the dinners every two months with the senior missionaries.

Sunday after Church, as we were doing our customary walk, we noticed someone working on one of the empty lots just around the corner from us.  We went over and introduced ourselves to him. He mentioned that he had worked in church ministry his whole life. He had served as a missionary in Peru for a number of years. He also had served as a minister over a congregation for a number of years and served as a minister in the prison system. He has been a minister for several different churches. He is now retired and planning to build a small cabin on this lot he was working on. In the mean time he plans to live in a trailer and will be moving the trailer in over the next several weeks. I offered to help him with any tasks that he might have that require more than one person. I am thinking we will be able to approach him and his wife with the message of the restored gospel.  He seemed to be a good and genuine person.

I am learning that much of the Christian world has a very different view of the Sabbath than we do as this good person was out preparing this lot on the Sabbath. Sister Anderson was good to suggest to him that he check out our Church when he moves here. Because of their close proximity to where we live, I am confident we will have many more contacts with him.
