Helping A Lady With Family History, “William Wallace, Braveheart” Was An Ancestor

I had been helping the friend who owns the lake lot (where we attend the summer weekly potluck barbeque) with her family history. I had done some work the week prior but was not able to find much on her Boyd line this past week I was able to do a little more work and found where that line goes all the way back to Scotland.  She is a descendant of the Brother of William Wallace, the person they made the movie Braveheart about.

I remember seeing the movie years ago and thought it was a pretty good movie. As we were traveling to our district meeting, I asked the young elders if either of them had seen the movie. They both said no.  I thought that was a little strange, however when I got home I looked it up and found out it was rated R. I then realized that if I watched the video, it would have had to have been one of those edited versions.  The next day I clarified to the young elders that we didn’t watch R rated movies and explained the circumstances. They both laughed and the one Elder said his father purchased a editing machine that took out anything questionable. He said they watched a movie I had never heard of, but said with all the editing the movie was only 18 minutes long, he said it was difficult to determine what was going on. Of course then, I am wondering what he was watching, why would you even want to watch a movie that required that much editing? ;)

Our friend at the Barbeque was very excited to learn that she was related to William Wallace. It turns out she was familiar with the movie.
